Skeet was the best to work with. Very prompt and informative! We had bed bugs for awhile before we even knew it. We would wake up with bites and wasn’t sure where they were coming from. We cleaned our area, sprayed the sprays and did all things we thought would help with the problem. Unfortunately for us, that didn’t help. We only ever saw a few actual bugs, we are pretty sure the bugs were living in our baseboards (old house, lots of cracks and crevices for them to hide in). I called Skeet and he came over to check out our problem - we rented his heaters and he got them all set up for us and we ran those, but they didn’t get all our bugs (they had deeeeep hiding spots). We then got ahold of Skeet again and he came out and brought out the big heaters and he heated our area for hours and after that treatment, we’ve been bug free! We can’t thank Skeet enough for all his work he did to make us feel comfortable again. If you are ever in the situation where you have bed bugs, I would 100% recommend reaching out to CNHT!

We were shocked to learn that we had a very large infestation of bedbugs. We immediately called a well known exterminator company. They came and told us we had to take everything out of all our closets and drawers and wash and bag everything. We are both in our eighties and that was an insurmountable task for us. We called Skeet at CNHT.When he got here he said everything could be taken care of where it was. Skeet is extremely professional while at the same time being super friendly. The whole experience was relatively painless and simple. The follow-up service is outstanding. This is a five-star company for sure.

He was very prompt to show up for inspection and was very honest that he found nothing but later helped diagnose a flea issue and pointed me in the right direction. Very professional

My brother was infested with bedbugs. The house was completely taken over. Skeet came in with his heaters. He spent several hours running them. I really appreciated his professionalism, taking the time to explain the process and answering our questions. Even after the initial treatment, he was in touch. He came in a second time to spray just for extra insurance. I highly recommend his services for anyone dealing with these problems. Thank you Skeet

Frequently Asked Questions

Most professional bed bug heat treatments take six to eight hours, depending on the size of the space and the severity of the infestation. That window typically runs from setup to teardown, and many providers hold lethal heat for four to five hours to build in a safety margin. Time matters: ending a treatment early is the most common reason heat treatments fail, so plan to be away for the full day, including cool-down.

They can, but not because they’ve become resistant to heat. Purdue University researchers exposed bed bugs to heat across seven generations, and none developed resistance. When bugs turn up afterward, they usually either sheltered inside walls or furniture where heat didn’t fully penetrate, or were brought back in after treatment. Because heat leaves no residual effect, the EPA advises putting practices in place to avoid reintroducing bed bugs, such as inspecting luggage, secondhand furniture, and anything returning to the home.

For most active infestations, heat is the stronger primary option, but combining methods gives the best overall results. Insecticide resistance means infestations now commonly require multiple insecticide applications, while heat can clear an infestation in one session. Even so, Purdue researchers stress that heat isn’t the only control method and that combining techniques offers the best chance of eliminating every bed bug. That’s why the right plan depends on what an inspection finds.

Yes, heat can kill cockroaches, but it works best as one part of a broader cockroach plan rather than a stand-alone fix. Industry heat specialists report that sustained high temperatures destroy cockroach egg cases and leave the eggs unable to hatch. At the same time, Purdue research found German cockroaches developing resistance to some of the most potent insecticides, concluding that an integrated approach combining treatments, traps, and better sanitation is key. Sealing entry points and removing food and moisture sources still matter after any treatment.

Follow the checklist your technician provides, which usually centers on protecting heat-sensitive items. Typical university heat-treatment checklists include cosmetics, medications, aerosol cans, candles and other wax items, and oil paintings. The EPA recommends handling heat-sensitive items so they don’t melt and treating them with a different technique. One practical tip: Purdue Extension advises against removing items from infested rooms before treatment, since moving belongings can spread bed bugs to clean areas.

Not reliably. Home methods can reduce bed bug numbers, but an established infestation usually needs professional treatment. The EPA cautions that do-it-yourself heat treatments might not work and that foggers shouldn’t be your only control method, because successful heat treatment requires special equipment and very high temperatures. Hiring an experienced, responsible pest control professional can increase your chance of success, though running items through a clothes dryer on high heat is a helpful step while you wait.
